AsciiLings privacy notice
Last updated July 27, 2026. Applies to the AsciiLings apps for iPhone, iPad and Android.
AsciiLings is a puzzle game. There is no account, no sign-in, and nothing about you that we ask for. We do not collect your name, your email address, your location, or your contacts. What we do collect is a small amount of anonymous information about how the game itself is being played, so we can tell which levels are unfair and which ones are broken.
What we never collect
- Your name, email address, phone number or postal address
- Your location
- Your contacts, photos, microphone or camera
- Any advertising identifier, because there are no ads
What the game does send
The app reports gameplay events to servers operated by Vertolini, LLC. These are events about the game, not about you:
- Which level was started, how it ended, how long it took, how many AsciiLings were saved and how many stars were earned
- Which skills were used and where, and how AsciiLings were lost, so levels can be balanced
- Which screens were opened and which tutorial steps were completed
- Basic technical details: platform, operating system version, device model, and the app version and build number
- Errors the app runs into
Each report carries a device identifier supplied by the operating system, so that events from one installation can be counted as one player. On iPhone and iPad this is Apple's identifier for vendors; on Android it is the system's Android ID. Neither is an advertising identifier, neither is tied to your name or to your Apple or Google account, and neither lets us identify you as a person.
No ads and no third-party trackers
There are no ad networks and no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs in AsciiLings. Gameplay data goes only to Vertolini servers, and we do not sell it, rent it, or share it with data brokers or advertisers.
Game Center and Google Play Games
Leaderboards and achievements are optional. If you use them, your scores are handled by Apple's Game Center or Google Play Games under Apple's and Google's own privacy terms, and whatever name you show there is the one you chose with them, not with us. Declining does not restrict the game.
In-app purchases
Purchases are processed entirely by Apple or Google. We receive confirmation that a purchase succeeded so the app can unlock what you bought. We never see your card number, billing address, or any other payment detail.
Level content
Levels are delivered from our servers so that new ones can be added and existing ones can be fixed without an app update. Requesting a level tells our server that a level was requested. It carries no personal information.
Children
AsciiLings contains no ads, no chat, no user-to-user messaging, and no sharing of personal information. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, children included. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please get in touch and we will delete it.
Retention
Gameplay events are kept only as long as they are useful for balancing levels and fixing bugs, and they are stored in aggregate wherever possible.
Your choices
Deleting the app stops all reporting. On iPhone and iPad you can also reset the identifier for vendors by removing every app from the same developer. If you would like the data associated with your installation removed, contact us with the request and we will handle it.
Changes to this notice
If this notice changes in a way that affects what is collected, the date at the top of this page will change with it.
Contact
AsciiLings is made by Vertolini, LLC. Questions about privacy, or about anything else in the game, can go through the Vertolini contact form.
